Jeschke, Elizabeth Bixel Miller, 88, of Goshen, Elkhart Co., IN died June 27, 2018 at the same place from multiple myeloma. She was born November 27, 1929 at Bluffton, Ohio to Gordon and Margaret (Claassen) Bixel. In 1994 she was married to Marlin Jeschke, who survives.
In 1951, Betty married Oscar Miller of Berlin, Ohio. She was widowed by her first husband Oscar Miller’s death of cancer in 1989.
Surviving are, daughter, Kathy (Willard) Fenton-Miller; son, Thomas (Crystal) Miller; step-children: Eric (Amy Baum) Jeschke, Margaret (Bart Miller) Jeschke, and David (Kim Rush) Jeschke; seven grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and two brothers.
A son, James Miller preceded her in death.
Betty taught elementary school in Holmes County for 34 years, 25 of them teaching third grade at the all Amish Chestnut Ridge School between Berlin and Walnut Creek. During these years she was a member of First Mennonite Church in Sugarcreek. She participated in the founding of Behalt, the Amish and Mennonite Heritage Center near Berlin and the Berlin Public Library. In 1997, after a four-month study tour in Israel, Betty and Marlin moved to Goshen, where Betty joined College Mennonite Church and continued to be active in church and community affairs. She endowed the Religion and Science Conferences at Goshen College.
Memorial services were held July 30, 2018 at College Mennonite Church, Goshen, IN with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Johns, Gladys Louise Yoder

GOSHEN - Gladys Louise Johns, 98, passed into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, Jan. 2 surrounded by her family at her home in Juniper Place at Greencroft.
Gladys was born June 5, 1919 in Topeka to Edwin J. and Mollie (Stoltzfus) Yoder.
On June 5, 1938, her 19th birthday, she married Dewayne Johns who died in 2007. They lived most of their married life in the New Paris/Goshen area, spending six months a year in Sarasota, Florida for 32 years.
She is survived by three children: Joan (Merle) Mullet, Goshen, John (Carolyn) Johns, Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Bonnie Johns, San Francisco, California; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Galen (Esther) Yoder and Olive Grace (Ed) Miller.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Genevieve Friesen; a brother, Gerald Yoder; a daughter, Janice Stanley; and a grandson, Mark Mullet.
Gladys was a devoted homemaker and mother to her four children along with assisting Dewayne as bookkeeper in their Johns Jet-Crete business.
A 70-year member of College Mennonite Church, Gladys served in many capacities in the church. She was a founding member of Church Women United which has since evolved into The Window.
As a 40-year member of the Greencroft Auxiliary, she found great joy into her nineties pushing people to therapy in their wheelchairs. Her long-term involvement in Bible Study Fellowship as a discussion leader and a teaching leader, both in the Goshen class and in Nappanee, marked a significant spiritual change in her life.
She and Dewayne were avid bikers, taking up the sport in their 50s and biking into their 80s, they biked many places in Europe, Ireland, New England, and Florida as well as around the Midwest.
Gladys took up golf later in life, playing with gusto and enough skill to get a hole-in-one when she was 70 years old. She continued to play golf into her 90s. At 89 she set a record as the oldest person to zip line in Granada, Nicaragua, topping that experience with a ride in a power parachute for her 93rd birthday.
A skilled needlework artist, she cross-stitched and framed every P. Buckley Moss pattern available as well as other intricate designs. Many family members have been recipients of her beautifully crocheted afghans.
She originally took up stitching so that she would have something to occupy herself while Dewayne watched ballgames. The result was that she became a great sports enthusiast herself, especially cheering for IU, Ohio State, and Notre Dame football and basketball. She checked the sports page and circled the games she didn’t want to miss.
Gladys loved life and lived it to the fullest. She loved her family dearly, praying diligently for each one. Her deep personal faith in God and His Word gave Gladys a radiant joy that touched many lives.
Her cheerful spirit and warm hugs were an uplift and encouragement to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
The family would like to especially thank Sara Kuhns and the other caregivers form Goshen Hospice for walking with Gladys and the family through this journey with skill and compassion.
Friends may call 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8 at College Mennonite Church.

Johnson, Mary Lind, 85, of Scottdale, Westmoreland Co., PA died May 19, 2018 at the same place from natural causes. She was born December 25, 1932 at Lund, Texas to Harry Emmanuel [d. 1948] and Elin Elizabeth (Gustafson) [d. 1959] Lind. On June 5, 1954 at Austin, Travis Co., Texas she was married to Rev. Robert Norman Johnson, who was born October 19, 1932 and died October 25, 1990.
Surviving are children, Paul Lind Johnson (Brenda Guest Johnson); Sharon Johnson Lamont (Stuart Alexander Lamont); Steven Michael Wiebe-Johnson (Dorothy Wiebe-Johnson); Timothy Martin Johnson (Carol Martin Johnson); Cynthia Johnson Nutter (Duncan Craig Nutter); Cheryl Johnson Cummings (Ronald George Cummings); and John Robert Johnson (Nancy Newcomer Johnson); 21
grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harry Lind, Austin, Texas.
Three brothers, Arthur Thompson, John Thompson, and Ralph Thompson preceded her in death.
She was a pastor's wife for 31 years and worked for Provident Bookstores, serving as manager at Scottdale store.
Memorial services were held May 22, 2018 at Scottdale Mennonite Church, Scottdale, PA with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Kabira, Wandalee Weaver, 88, died January 11, 2018 at Tokyo, Japan from Multiple Myeloma. She was born March 10, 1929 at Newton, Harvey Co., KS to Albert and Ruth Weaver. On November 1, 1957 at Naha, Okinawa, Japan she was married to Chosei Kabira, who was born August 30, 1927 and survives.
Surviving are three sons, Jon, Ken G. and Jay; and three grandchildren.
Three brothers, Albert Jr., Gene, and Don preceded her in death.
Memorial services were held January 19, 2018 at Aoba Christ Church, Yokohama, Japan.
Kauffman, Benjamin A.
Feb. 5, 1926 - May 3, 2018
UNION, Mich. - Benjamin A. Kauffman, 92, of Union, Michigan died on Thursday, May 3, 2018.
He was born on Feb. 5, 1926, in Middlebury, to Aden and Katie (Troyer) Kauffman.
Survivors in addition to his wife are two daughters, Debra Murphy, Dee (Richard) Shirley; son, Dennis (Doreen) Kauffman; four granddaughters, Chrisi (Todd) Cornell, Stephanie (Michael) Marsh, Rachel (Bernard) Cunningham, Katelyn Shirley; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Kari Kauffman; two brothers, Sam and Fritz Kauffman; three sisters, Ruby Kauffman, Nona Miller, and Maggie LeCount.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, May 7 at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street, Middlebury. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8 at First Mennonite Church, Middlebury.
Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury.
Kauffman, Gladys Mary Mullet, 95, of Glendive, MT died January 9, 2018 at Bozeman, MT. She was born August 6, 1922 at Bloomfield, MT to Menno J. and Ora Pearl (Chaney) Mullet. On October 20, 1949 at Bloomfield she was married to Samuel Morris Kauffman, who was born June 6, 1923 and died March 2, 1984.
Surviving are children, Pamela (Joel)Howard, Twila Kauffman, Vaughn Kauffman, Kent Kauffman, Merrill (Sharon)Kauffman, Vance Kauffman, Valerie (Craig) Deeney, and Gaylene (Andy) Kerr; 14 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, a sister, Eunice Field, and a brother, Keith Mullet.
A son, Lindord Kauffman; a grandson, Taylor Deeney; and siblings, Lillian Davis, Jesse Evans, Margaret Bidwell, Lucille Holderman, Ruby Stanley, and Jim Mullet preceded her in death.
Memorial services were held January 26, 2018 at Evangelical Free Church, Bozeman, MT with burial in Red Top Cemetery, Bloomfield, MT.

ARCADIA, Fla. - Jay L. Kauffman, 96, of Arcadia, went home to be with his Lord, Jan. 21, 2018.
Born Feb. 27, 1921, in Elkhart, to Ray D. and Margaret (Roderick) Kauffman.
Jay was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Ray D. and Margaret Kauffman; and by three wives, Margaret, the mother of his three children, Nova Wolford and Mary Jane Collins; a brother-in-law, Russel Ecclestone of Irvine, California, and a stepson, Harry Wayne Wolford.
Jay is survived by his beloved wife, Betty Kauffman.
He is also survived by his sister, DeVere Ecclestone of Irvine; his daughter, Nancy Rae Kauffman of Vietnam; sons Kim (Becky) Kauffman and Kevin Kauffman, both of Elkhart; stepchildren Sharon (Phillip) Stemes and Earl (Wilma) Wolford of Elkhart and Sherri Gabel of LaGrange, North Carolina; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews; a special sister-in-law, Nancy Inbody of Goshen; and a special brother-in-law, Jerry (Rosie) Davenport.
Jay was enthusiastic with life itself.
He loved and served the Lord.
Jay was proud to serve in the U.S. Navy in World War II on the USS Heermann, DD532.
Jay worked for New York Central and Penn Central railroads in Elkhart, retiring after 42 years of service.
He was also a lifetime member of the Masonic Temple.
A celebration of life for Jay will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 16, at Prairie Street Mennonite Church.
Afterward the procession will go to Prairie Street Cemetery on Hively Avenue in Elkhart.

Kauffman, Myrna Ellen Miller

GOSHEN - Myrna Ellen Miller Kauffman, 77, passed away at her home in Goshen, Monday, Sept. 24, 2018.
She was born, in Goshen, Oct. 13, 1940, to William J. and Lydia (Troyer) Miller.
After graduating from Bethany Christian High School, Myrna married James Kauffman. During their marriage they lived in Topeka, Kansas and then Charlottesville, Virginia, where she earned her nursing degree at Piedmont Virginia Community College.
Myrna worked as an operating room nurse at Martha Jefferson and the University of Virginia hospitals in Charlottesville, and then as the director of surgical services at Loudon County Hospital in Leesburg, Virginia, and Smithville (North Carolina) Regional Hospital.
The last years of her career were spent as a clinical specialist and nurse educator with Steris Corp. while living in Holly Springs, North Carolina.
Myrna loved to travel and explore new places.
She wasn’t afraid to take a detour or stick to the back roads.
She also loved her family, her son, James (Tim) Kauffman, his fiancée Michelle Miniutti, and their children Emma Kauffman, and Jack Miniutti of Holly Springs; her daughter, Missy (John) Schrock and their children, Rachel and Loren Schrock of Goshen; her sisters, Mary Frye and Pam (Robert) Rossi of Goshen; her brothers, Devon (Jane) Miller of Cromwell and Ronald (Janis) Miller of Willow Park, Texas.
She also loved her 11 nieces and nephews and their families.
Myrna was a gracious host, with a generous spirit who made everyone around her feel welcome and valued.
Friends are welcome to visit with the family from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday morning, Sept. 29, at Berkey Avenue Mennonite Fellowship, Goshen.
A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. and a light lunch will follow.

Kaufman, Enos M., age 78, of Etna Green, went to be with his Lord at 7:05 a.m., Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at his residence. He fought a courageous battle with cancer for 2 years. He was born February 2, 1940 to Menno and Magdalena (Borkholder) Kaufman in Bremen. On November 21, 1961 he married Martha Graber in Etna Green. She preceded him in death December 30, 2015. Enos farmed and hauled livestock. He was a member of the Fairview Amish Mennonite Church and Gideon’s International. He enjoyed watching softball and he loved his family and spending time with them. One of his greatest passions was evangelizing to lost souls.
He is survived by his daughters, Eunice (Tim) Troxell, Selinsgrove, PA, Naomi Kaufman, Etna Green; sons, Peter (Karen) Kaufman, Topeka, Leon (Carolyn) Kaufman, Glen (Eunice) Kaufman, Calvin (Diane) Kaufman, all of Etna Green, Devon (Becky Carswell) Kaufman, Bourbon; 21 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Sarah Buller, Nappanee, Esther Kaufman, Bremen, Alma (Henry) Hershberger, Nappanee, Sam (Miriam) Kaufman, Bremen; and Emery (Betsy) Kaufman, Bremen.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; son, Clyde Kaufman; daughter, Mary Ellen Kaufman; granddaughters, Kristyn and Lindsie Kaufman; brother, Noah Kaufman; an infant brother; and brother-in-law, Henry Buller.

Kaufman, LaVella V. Mehlhaff, 83, of Freeman, SD died January 7, 2018 at the same place. She was born April 21, 1934 at Freeman, SD to Herbert and Annie (Engel) Mehlhaff. On January 3, 1970 she was married to Johnny Kaufman, who is deceased.
Memorial services were held Jan 10, 2018 at Salem-Zion Mennonite Church, Freeman, SD with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

GOSHEN - Martha Fern Yutzy Kaufman, 89, Goshen, passed away 7:20 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018.
She was born April 4, 1929 in Arthur, Illinois, to Edward and Annie (Gingerich) Yoder.
Surviving is her husband, Wilbur Kaufman, sons Daniel Yutzy, Philip (Christine) Yutzy, daughters, Cheryl Burkhart, Dr. Sandra (Kevin) Plank, step-sons, twins, Kerwin (Cheryl) Kaufman, and Kevin (Barbara) Kaufman.
Preceding her in death are her parents, first husband Daniel, and siblings Alta (Jerry) Yoder, Omer (Anna) Yoder, Irma (Rueben) Yoder, Chris (Katie Ann) Yoder, Fannie (Harvey) Stutzman, Katie (John) Showalter, Susan (Linus) Eash, Cora (Raymond) Schrock and Mary (Raymond) Kauffman.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018, and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. service Friday, Aug. 31, all at East Goshen Mennonite Church.
Pastor Merle Hostetler will officiate.
Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery.
Kaufman, Miriam Jane Bontrager, age 70, of Bremen, died at 2:40 p.m., Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Elkhart General Hospital, where she had been a patient since Friday. She was born August 17, 1948 in Canton, OH to John W. and Ada M. (Miller) Bontrager. On October 21, 1971, she married Samuel M. Kaufman in Middlebury.
Mrs. Kaufman lived most of her life in this area. She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
She is survived by her husband, Samuel M. Kaufman; children, Sharon Ann Kaufman at home, Marilyn Fern (Alvin Kuhns, Pauline Sue (David H.) Mast, Wayne S. (Edna Sue) Kaufman, all of Bremen; Allen S. (Lisa Ann) Kaufman, Nappanee, Leanna Lou Kaufman, Goshen; 20 grandchildren; a great granddaughter, her stepmother, Mary Bontrager, Middlebury; brothers, David Lee Bontrager, Paul (Sue) Bontrager, both of Middlebury, Joe (Fannie Mae) Bontrager, Shipshewana, Samuel (Elsie) Bontrager, Hillsboro, WI; sister, Ruth A. (Issac) Miller, Rosebush, MI, and stepbrother, Earl (Karen) Mast, Etna Green. Preceding in death were her parents; grandson, Brandon Kaufman; and sister-in-law, Laura Bontrager.
Family and friends may call after 2, Monday, August 27, 2018 and all day, Tuesday, August 28th at the family residence. Funeral Services will also be at the family residence, Wednesday, August 29th at 9:30 am. Home Ministry of the Old Order Amish Church will officiate and burial will be in Borkholder Cemetery.
Kempf, Emory Alvin
July 17, 1962 - July 3, 2018
SEDALIA — Emory Alvin Kempf, beloved husband of Charlene Dawn (Headings) Kempf, was born July 17, 1962, to Alvin and Lucille (Shrock) Kempf at Morrison, IL.
He accepted Christ in his youth, and was a faithful member of the Olive Hill Amish-Mennonite Church at the time of his death.
On June 28, 1984, he was united in marriage to Charlene Headings, daughter of Stanley and Alta Headings, at Tampico, IL sharing the joys and sorrows of married life for 34 years and 5 days.
God called Emory home on July 3, 2018, at the age of 55 years, 11 months, and 16 days. He was last seen standing beside his pickup by Larry Miller, a feed truck driver from Fair Grove, MO. As he was leaving around 30 minutes later, he found him lying on the ground.
He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife Charlene; four children, Dawn and husband Gary Hostetler, and their children, Connor, Kezia, Lexi, Rionn and Wyatt, Crawford, CO. Colleen and husband Noah Knox, and their children, Nikki, Tara, Talisha and Hunter, Hotchkiss, CO. Alex, wife Kayla and daughter Savannah, Sedalia, MO. Eric, wife Bonnie and daughter Skylee, Sedalia MO.
He also leaves his step-mother, Loretta Kempf, Sedalia MO. Four brothers and seven sisters, Sharon, Mrs. Orla Hostetler, Halfway, MO. Janice, Mrs. David Headings, Sedalia, MO. LaMar and wife Susan, Pocahontas, AR. Lorraine and husband Stanley Christner, Sedalia, MO. Eldora and husband Keith Shrock, Pocahontas, AR. Eileen, Sedalia, MO. Lester and wife Judith, Ravenden Springs, AR. Leo and wife Pam, Ravenden Springs, AR. Vernon and wife Charlotte, Sedalia, MO. Mabel Ann and husband Herman Hostetler, Clarksville, AR. Clarabel and husband, John Kropf, Clarksville, AR. A host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Lucille (Shrock) Kempf, a stillborn brother, Dennis Ray. Paternal grandparents Lee and Ella (Hostetler) Kempf. Maternal grandparents Russel and Edna (Kropf) Shrock. One sister-in-law Cathy, wife of LaMar. Two brothers-in-law, Orla Hostetler and David Headings.
Emory was a kind and generous person with many friends from far and near. He greatly enjoyed auctions and being an auctioneer, for over 30 years.
His children and grandchildren were special to him and he enjoyed having them come home, especially during his recent illness, from which he was greatly improved.
His sudden passing was such a shock to all of us and he will be greatly missed.
The family expresses a heartfelt Thank You to everyone for their love, help and prayers through this time of grief.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 7, at Olive Hill Amish-Mennonite Church.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 6, at the Olive Hill Amish-Mennonite School.
Burial will be in the Olive Hill Cemetery.

William Jacob Kilmer, 82, of Tipton, MO passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018. William was born on March 13, 1936 in Brutus, MI the son of Martin Z. Kilmer and Mary (Brubacher) Kilmer both of whom preceded him in death. William was united in marriage on February 20, 1958 in New Paris, IN to Lena Ann (Kulp) Kilmer who preceded him in death on September 30, 2004. William was a member of the Pleasant Hill Mennonite Church.

King, Eunice Marilyn
April 5, 1932 - April 14, 2018
Eunice Marilyn King was born April 5, 1932 in Hubbard, Oregon and passed away in her home in Canby, Oregon, April 14, 2018; age 86. She was the youngest of the seven children of Oliver and Florence King.
Eunice accepted Christ as her personal Savior at the age of 10. In her younger years she was often called upon to be a baby maid. For 17 years she worked as a nurse aid at the Salem Hospital. She cooked for Western Mennonite School for three years. She spent a year under World Vision at a children's home in Mexico. Eunice was an active part in the lives of many of her nieces and nephews as they grew up. She helped out in many of her siblings' homes.
Eunice was preceded in death by her parents as well as all her siblings: Norma (Kauffman), Lyle, Beulah (Cowan), Howard, Doris (Hooley), and Hadley. She has two surviving brothers-in-law: Albert Cowan of Sweet Home, OR and Wesley Hooley of Caldwell, ID. One nephew and four nieces also preceded her in death.
Thank you to all who have loved her and taken time for her especially in her later years.
King, Lois Maxine Meyer, 91, of Walnut Creek, OH died April 19, 2018 at Millersburg, Holmes Co., OH. She was born September 24, 1926 at Sterling, Wayne Co., OH to Elmer and Sarah (Liechty) Meyer.
On June 7, 1952 at Pleasant Hill Mennonite Church, Wayne Co., OH she was married to Paul O. King, who was born December 21, 1921 and died October 29, 2016.
Surviving are children, Sara King (Marlin Yoder); David (Laurel), Daniel, and Miriam (Michael Blosser); seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Vernon Meyer (Geneva), and a sister, Bernice Miller (Sturges, deceased).
Three brothers, Paul Meyer, Art Meyer, and Fred Meyer preceded her in death.
Two weeks after marriage, the couple began pastoral work at Bethel Mennonite Church in Chicago. After ten years in Chicago, the family followed calls to pastor at Pleasant Hill, Freeport, and East Bend Mennonite Churches, for more than 35 years in ministry in Illinois.
Memorial services were held April 24, 2018 at Martins Creek Mennnite Church, Millersburg, OH with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
King, Marti Landes, 80, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2018. Formerly of her beloved home state of Colorado, Marti was the daughter of Ellsworth Landes and Olive (Miller) Landes.
Marti and her husband, Harold King, recently returned to Lancaster after living in Denver, Colorado for over 30 years where she worked as an Administrative Assistant for a CPA. Marti was a veracious reader and loved gardening, cooking, and traveling, especially to the beach.
She is survived by her husband, Harold King, and children; Deb Helmuth and her husband Robin, Randy King, and Brad King and his wife Cindy. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Allison Nixon and her husband Greg, Nick Helmuth and his wife Lili, and two great-granddaughters, Elise and Audrey Nixon.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 10:30AM at Community Mennonite Church of Lancaster located at 328 W. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17603. No public viewing, but, prior to the service, guests will be received by the family from 10:00-10:30AM. A light lunch will follow the service. King, Sharla Bell Rodes, 26, of Keezletown, passed away Friday, March 23, 2018, at her residence after a courageous 15-month battle with cancer. Mrs. King was born Aug. 3, 1991, in Harrisonburg and was the daughter of Nelson Lee and Dawn Rose (Heatwole) Rodes of Port Republic.
Sharla worked for the Country Canner. She also excelled as a homemaker and especially enjoyed sewing and hospitality. Mrs. King was a member of the McGaheysville Mennonite Church.
On March 17, 2012, she married Glendon Eugene King, who survives.
In addition to her husband and parents, Sharla is survived by three brothers, Gary Rodes and wife, Selinda, Justin Rodes and wife, Jolene, and Adam Rodes and wife, Elaine, all of Port Republic; a nephew, Carlin Rodes; a niece, Courtney Rodes; grandparents, Charles and Doris Heatwole of Bridgewater and Noah and Ada Rodes of Port Republic; in-laws, Eugene and Lois King of Keezletown; brother-in-law, Sheldon King and wife, Kristie, of Elkton; sister-in-law, Sherylyn King of Keezletown; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by an uncle, Jay Heatwole.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Pike Mennonite Church with Nelson Showalter, Nathan Good, Calvin Horst, and John Swartz officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Pike Mennonite Church.

Kleinsasser, Amos J., 93, of Freeman, Hutchinson Co., SD died April 21, 2018 at the same place.
He was born March 28, 1925 at Freeman to Joe K. and Julia P. (Schrag) Kleinsasser. Joe was born January 23, 1897 and died September 6, 1976. Julia was born July 16, 1902.
On September 14, 1947 at Freeman he was married to Kathryn E. Hofer, who was born July 3, 1928 and survives.
Surviving are a son, Robert (Deb) Kleinsasser; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Sarah Stahl, Joann Stahl and Ruby (Gary) Hughs.
A son, Michael Kleinsasser and siblings, Silas Kleinsasser, Iva Kleinsasser, Adela Walter Gross, Mary Wollman, Bertha Gross Hofer, Kathryn Graber, and Fern Kaufman preceded him in death.

Knicely, Anna Grace Wenger, 91, a lifelong resident of Dayton, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018, at her home. She was born June 22, 1927, and was a daughter of the late Amos and Nettie Rhodes Wenger.
Anna was a homemaker and quilter and was a member of the Pleasant View Old Order Mennonite Church.
On Oct. 12, 1954, she was united in marriage to Amos Daniel Knicely, who survives.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Dale Knicely and wife, Sharon, of Dayton, Steven Knicely and wife, Michelle, of Rockingham and Everett Knicely and wife, Martha, of Clover Hill; a daughter, Margaret Michael and husband, Steve, of Mount Crawford; 16 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Knicely is also survived by a sister, Esther Rohrer and husband, Paul; a brother, Jake Wenger and wife, Mary Lou; a sister-in-law, Hazel Wenger; and a large number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Paul Wenger, Ruel Wenger, Fred Wenger and wife, Alma, Frank Wenger and wife, Mary Etta; sisters, Martha Wenger, Frances Rohrer and husband, Gilbert; and a great-grandchild, Lorna Knicely.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2018, until 8 p.m. at the home of her son, Dale Knicely, 1390 Coakley Town Road.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at the Pleasant View Old Order Mennonite Church with the ministers of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests that flowers be omitted.

Kniss, Betty Marie Martin, 89, of Harrisonburg, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at the Burkholder House of Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community. Mrs. Kniss was born Jan. 22, 1929, in Hagerstown, Md., and was a daughter of the late J.D. Earl and Edna (Cunningham) Martin.
She graduated from the Hospital School of Nursing in Hagerstown in 1951, where she received several awards. She later graduated from Eastern Mennonite College in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science.
Betty served with her husband from 1959 until 1973 in medical work in Bihar, India, under the Mennonite Mission Board of Elkhart, Ind. Upon their return to the United States in 1973, their family settled in Harrisonburg. She was a member of Ridgeway Mennonite Church, where she taught Sunday school and summer Bible school and was a leader of the women’s Bible study. Betty visited with many people in their homes and in the hospital. During the 1980s, she helped resettle refugees and enjoyed lasting friendships with them.
On July 6, 1952, she married Dr. Mark A. Kniss, who preceded her in death on June 6, 2014.
Betty is survived by her children, Lois Kniss of Richmond, Va., James M. Kniss of Mount Joy, Pa., Robert E. Kniss (Brenda) of Harrisonburg and Eric A. Kniss (Brenda) of Bridgewater; a sister, Margaret M. Gehman; and five grandchildren, Kevin D. Jones (Jinju), Kristen M. Jones, Andrew R. Kniss (Marta), Jennifer M. Kniss and James Paul Kniss.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Kniss was preceded in death by her brothers, Earl Martin Jr. and Donald E. Martin.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 7, at 2 p.m. at Ridgeway Mennonite Church, 546 E. Franklin St., Harrisonburg, VA 22801, with Pastor Ben Risser officiating.

GOSHEN - Theodore M. Klopfenstein, 92, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018, at Greencroft Healthcare.
He was born Nov. 23, 1926, to James G. and Mabel (Eicher) Klopfenstein in Duel County, Nebraska.
On May 15, 1948, he married Florence B. Helmick in Pinto, Maryland. She died July 28, 1995.
Survivors include two sons, Howard (Judith) Klopfenstein of Lafayette and David Klopfenstein of West Lafayette; a daughter, Debra (Ron) Daw of Santa Ana, California; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Keith (JoAnn) Klopfenstein of Elkhart.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by nine siblings.
An area resident since 1952, Mr. Klopfenstein was a member of Prairie Street Mennonite Church, Elkhart. He worked as a truck driver for area dairy farms, Deans Inc. and Archway Cookies. He was a gifted horseshoe farrier for more than 40 years. He participated in A.E.R.C. (American Endurance Ride Conference) crosscountry horse racing, completing 7,000 miles.
Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 13, from 2 p.m. until the 4 p.m. funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen.
Burial will take place at Pinto Mennonite Church Cemetery, Cumberland, Maryland.
Kraus, C. Norman, professor emeritus of religion, ordained Mennonite minister, author of books on church history, theology, peacemaking, and social justice, and a lifelong Christian disciple whose teaching took him to countries in Asia, Africa, Australia, and South America, died April 6, 2018, at the age of 94. His family said the cause was congestive heart failure.
Early on, Kraus developed an interest in history and religion, particularly that of his Anabaptist faith. He attended Eastern Mennonite College and graduated from Goshen College in 1946 with a bachelor’s degree in Bible. After teaching history at Eastern Mennonite School for several years, he returned to Goshen in 1949 to pursue a seminary degree and teach at Goshen College in the Bible Department. In 1953, he completed a master’s in theology from Princeton Theological Seminary, followed by a doctorate in religion from Duke University in 1961. He taught at Goshen College for 30 years, founding and directing a Center for Discipleship program there in 1971 that focused on helping students and lay Christians explore effective discipleship across disciplines and vocations.
In 1980, Kraus and his wife, Ruth, accepted an assignment from Mennonite Board of Missions to work with the Mennonite churches in Japan. After 18 months of language study in Tokyo, the couple moved to Sapporo, where Kraus lectured and taught for six years while also writing a two volume Christology, “Jesus Christ Our Lord: Christology from a Disciple’s Perspective” and “God Our Savior: Theology in a Christological Mode,” published first in Japanese and later in English. Among his more recent publications are: “An Intrusive Gospel: Christian Mission in the Postmodern World” (1998); “Using Scripture in a Global Age: Framing Biblical Issues” (2006); “On being Human: Sexual Orientation and the Image of God” (2011); and “The Jesus Factor in Justice and Peacemaking” (2011).
Born on Feb. 20, 1924, in the Warwick River Mennonite Colony, Kraus was raised in the farm village of Denbigh, now a part of Newport News. The experience of growing up in a pioneer Mennonite community, whose northern, Pennsylvania-German, pacifistic culture was radically at odds with the martial, post-Civil War “English” culture of the surrounding Virginia community, profoundly affected his world view. It became his life’s quest to understand the church’s mission of peace and justice and to explore how the visible church could manifest the teachings of Jesus. Kraus taught a model of the church as a “community of the spirit,” and “an authentic movement at the grassroots level to promote the personal-social goal of God’s kingdom on Earth.” His books “The Community of the Spirit” (1974) and “The Authentic Witness” (1979) are among his most widely read.
In 1958, Kraus wrote “Integration: Who’s Prejudiced,” one of the first public attempts by the Mennonite Church to address its own implicit biases. Raised in the “Jim Crow” South, he knew firsthand the “brand of racial attitudes” his church community brought to its involvement with the segregated black community. As he wrote in 2013, revisiting his childhood in the Warwick River Colony, blacks were neighbors and fellow workers on the farm, but “the intimacies of friendship were strictly limited by the cultural system, no matter what happened in a private setting.”
In Goshen, Ind., where he settled in 1949 and strict segregationist codes were still the law, he began to take on a role as educator, reporter, protester, and advocate for racial equity and social justice. Though he never considered himself an “activist,” while living in Durham, N.C., from 1959 to 1961, he joined black students at a Roses’ lunch counter sit-in and was in the courtroom to support fellow Duke students arrested in the protests.
In 1963, at the request of Mennonite Central Committee, Kraus spent six weeks in Georgia and Tennessee helping leaders better assess whether and how to engage in the nonviolent student movement. There, he joined a young Julian Bond for conversation and a cup of coffee and interviewed Ralph Abernathy, who memorably told him that the church’s light had turned out to be a tail light. When Martin Luther King was assassinated in 1968, Kraus was asked to lead a march from Goshen College to downtown Goshen and gave the memorial address.
Kraus married Ruth Smith in 1945, and raised a family of five children, Yvonne, Jo Anne, John Norman, Bonnie, and Robert. After his stint in Japan, he retired from Goshen College, moving back to his home state of Virginia to settle in Harrisonburg, where he continued teaching part time, writing, and occasionally preaching. In Harrisonburg, he served as interim pastor at Community Mennonite Church in 1990-91, was a member of the Park View Mennonite Church, and more recently worshipped with the Shalom Mennonite Congregation.
In 1997, Norman lost Ruth, his companion of 52 years, to leukemia. In 1998, he married Rhoda Short Hess, who survives him. He is also survived by his five children and their spouses, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. They grieve the loss of his earthly presence while celebrating the great gift of his long, fruitful life. A memorial service will be held on April 28 at 3 p.m. at the Community Mennonite Church, 70 S. High St., Harrisonburg, Va. Kraybill, Mark Brubaker, died at age 66 on June 11th, 2018, after dealing with cancer for almost a decade. He was the third of five siblings, born in Lancaster County on January 9th, 1952 to Wilmer and Helen (Brubaker) Kraybill.
A deep family heritage rooted in agriculture and Mennonite ministry helped shape his two main passions in life: growing things and serving people. He also enjoyed bird-watching, bee-keeping and playing the accordion.
Mark graduated from Lancaster Mennonite High, then studied at Millersville University until he joined the Mennonite Voluntary Service in Rochester, NY. He served inner-city youth for 18 months before returning to the family farm.
Mr. Kraybill partnered with his father to run the dairy operation for ten plus years, then was ordained at Hopewell Mennonite Church as a pastor in 1987. During his 31-year tenure, he served the Hopewell Network in multiple leadership roles until his death. He helped launch Living Love Ministries, a non-profit orphanage in Kenya, and served on two other ministry boards: Happy News Mission and Called to Pray. Mark truly knew what it meant to be a servant and loved giving his time and resources to anyone in need.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Ferne Ruth Kraybill; his son Conrad Kraybill (wife, Nicola) of Wyomissing; his daughter Dawn Yoder (husband, Greg) of Lancaster, 6 grandchildren; brother Donald B. Kraybill of Elizabethtown; and sister Dorcas Kraybill Hutton of Baltimore. He is predeceased by his parents, Wilmer and Helen, along with his brother James and his sister Rosene.
Services will be held Saturday morning at 11 AM at Hopewell Christian Fellowship, 2286 Hopewell Road, Elverson, PA 19520. A viewing will be held Friday, June 15th from 6 – 8 PM at the church, and Saturday morning from 9-11AM before the service. A burial and luncheon will immediately follow the service. Kreider, Alicia Gwen, born November 3, 2016, daughter of Keith and Katrina Kreider, of the Providence of Salta in Argentina, went home to be with Jesus in the early hours of Saturday morning, August 11, 2018 in a hospital in Salta, Argentina. She enjoyed good health until three weeks before her death.
Alicia's parents, Keith O. and Katrina J. (Siegrist) Kreider, are from Lancaster County and are members at the Simmontown Mennonite Church, Gap, PA. They and their family have been serving in Argentina for about 3 1/2 years.
In addition to her parents, Alicia is survived by nine siblings, Sharlene, wife of Jay Paul Hoover, of Lancaster; Shana, Raymond, Ethan, Delbert, Lucy, Justine, Wilson, and Lorelle, all at home. Her maternal grandparents are Raymond P. and Virginia (Mummau) Siegrist, of Brownfield, ME; and her paternal grandparents are Clyde H. and Merie (Landis) Kreider, of Lancaster, PA.

Kreider, Burnell E., 82, formerly of Paradise Township, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 18, 2018, after a battle with chronic Parkinson's. He was the husband of Loretta (Bauman) Kreider for over 57 years.
Burnie was a graduate of the former East Lampeter Township High School, class of 1954. He served in the U.S. Army and received an Honorable Discharge in 1964.
He worked as an oil distributor and equipment operator for McMinn's Asphalt for 23 years, then worked with Ellsworth "Bud" Good as a house carpenter. Burnie retired from Wohlsen Construction after 26 years. He started with Wohlsen as an apprentice Carpenter and eventually became Road Superintendent in Southeast Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey and Delaware.
He was a member of Lancaster Church of the Brethren.
Burnie was a member in good standing of Christiana Lodge #417, F.& A.M. and served as treasurer of the lodge for over 10 years. He was a member of the Lancaster Lodge of Perfection, Reading Consistory A.A.S.R., Rajah Shrine, the Lancaster Shrine Club, the Brandywine Shrine Club and the Legion of Honor Shrine Club and the International Shrine Hillbilly Degree, Clan #9. He was actively involved in the Paradise Lions Club and a life member of the Ephrata American Legion.
Burnie belonged to the "Iva Camp" hunting camp for many years and was a life member of the Strasburg Sportsman's Association. He was a Golden Eagle member of the National Rifle Association. He was a proud member of the Slumbering Groundhog Lodge and served as Camaxtli of the Q-Club.
Burnie was highly engaged in helping the Shrine. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed spending time at the cabin, hunting and cheering on his grandchildren at sporting events.
Born in Lancaster, Burnie was the son of the late Elam Arthur and Edna Leigh (Gochenaur) Kreider. In addition to Loretta, he is survived by four daughters, Tanya L. (Doug) Long, Tia S. (Michael) Truitt, Tina J. (Michael) Maerz and Tara Y. Kreider; a son, Troy D. (Joann) Kreider; his grandchildren, Nicholas Kreider, Kaylee Kreider, Alex Truitt (Kristi), David Truitt (Mollie), Tyler Maerz, Gabbi Beakes (Jason), Alina K. Allgyer and Gabe Allgyer; and his great-grandchildren, Gavin, Ryleigh, Savanna, Jackson and Stella; and a sister, E. Joanne Kreider.

Kreider, Dorothy M. Ranck, 82, of Hidden Green, Lancaster and formerly of Strasburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Landis Homes.
She was the wife of Kenneth H. Kreider. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Amos and Martha Miller Ranck.
For many years she worked at the Farmer's Market in Germantown, and Philadelphia on Friday's for a local market grower.
Dorothy was a member of Neffsville Mennonite Church where she taught Sunday school. She was also a member of Farm Women Society #28, the Conewago Ski Club, and 4-H Club where she taught sewing.
Dorothy was passionate about music and had a natural gift in playing both the piano and accordion. She enjoyed playing golf, bicycling, flower and vegetable gardening, and taking daily walks by the creek near her home. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, taking trips both in and out of the United States.
Surviving beside her husband Ken, are four children, James L. husband of Patricia Tollinger Martin Jr., Rodney E. husband of Paula Adams Martin, Carol M. wife of Paul E. Williams, Karen S. wife of Charles H. Schneider, Jr.; 7 grandchildren; and a sister Ruth wife of John Jacob Bare.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James L. Martin.

Kreider, Howard, Jr., 95, of the Mennonite Home and formerly of Willow Street, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 16, 2018. Born in Providence Twp., he was the son of the late Howard B., and Lillie (Hess) Kreider. He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Norma H. Kreider.
Howard was a lifelong farmer. He was an active member of the New Providence Mennonite Church, where he served on the cemetery board. He also belonged to the Willow Street Hunting Club in Perry County.
In addition to his wife, Howard is survived by 4 children: J. Kenneth, husband of Ruth Kreider of New Providence; Carl R. Kreider of New Providence; James L., husband of Linda Kreider of Quarryville; and Linda, wife of Mike Peifer of Manheim. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Kreider and 3 siblings.
A memorial service will take place at New Providence Mennonite Church, 121 Main St., New Providence, PA on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Kreider, Lloyd Groff, 86, of Lancaster and formerly of Esbenshade Road, Ronks, passed away at LGH on Thursday, September 06, 2018. He was the husband of Ruth (Deiter) Kreider for 50 years.
Born in Paradise Township, Lloyd was the son of the late Paul D. and Mary (Groff) Kreider. He is survived by two sons, Gerald Kreider and Gary married to Denise Kreider and three grandchildren, Janelle, Katrina and Michael.
Lloyd loved being a self-employed dairy farmer. He helped his neighbors in tobacco fields and when there was a barn fire. He also worked for Walter Rohrer dressing chickens and traveling to Philadelphia market, and at Esbenshade Turkey Farm.
In retirement, he kept busy working at the Old Candle Barn and cracked and sold walnuts during the winter.
Lloyd volunteered with Meals-On-Wheels for nine years. He enjoyed following and telling his friends about the weather.
He was a faithful member of the former Paradise Mennonite Church. He and Ruth recently attended Gordonville Bible Church. Lloyd would read the Bible each year.
There will be a Memorial Service on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 10:00 AM in Grace Point Church of Paradise, 8 South Singer Avenue, Paradise, PA. The family will greet friends after the service.

Kreider, Lloyd Herr, 96, of Kirkwood, passed into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, April 4, 2018. Born in East Petersburg, he was the son of Elmer and Anna Mary (Herr) Kreider. Lloyd was the husband of Miriam (Hess) Kreider for 16 years.
He was a retired dairy farmer and volunteered for many years at Camp Andrews. Lloyd was a member of Oak Shade Mennonite Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Wilmer (Arlene Kurtz) Kreider, James (Linda Martin) Kreider, Margie (Jere Martin), and Paul (Janice Hershey) Kreider. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and brothers: Frank, Norman, John, and Clyde Kreider. He was preceded in death by a wife, Anna Hostetter Kreider; a wife, Ruth Byler Kreider; a son, Jay Kreider; a granddaughter, Kimberly Kurtz Kreider and siblings: Elva Breneman, Mervin Kreider, Esther Siegrist, Edith Denlinger, Elmer Kreider and Harold Kreider.

Kreider, Norman Herr, 85, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away early Saturday morning, Dec. 22, 2018, at Sentara RMH Medical Center. Mr. Kreider was born April 23, 1933, in East Petersburg, Pa., and was a son of the late Elmer H. and Mary A. Herr Kreider.
After graduating from Eastern Mennonite College with a degree in music, he was owner and operator of Miles Music Co. for about 20 years. Upon early retirement, Norman poured his efforts into volunteer work with various charitable organizations. He was significantly involved in the opening of Gift and Thrift, where he served as the first manager. As a team leader with Mennonite Disaster Service for many years, Norman spent numerous long days assisting in cleanup and reconstruction efforts for those experiencing devastating loss.
He was passionate about music, woodworking, and gardening, and relished time spent with others, generously sharing and teaching these skills. He loved crafting creative projects and furniture for his family and shared his workshop freely. Norman cherished all opportunities to share his life with his wife and family and was an active member of Weavers Mennonite Church.
On June 23, 1956, he married the former Dorothy Lehman, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Emily Gelser and husband, Darrell, of Harrisonburg and Jeanette Hershey and husband, Gerald, of Waynesboro; a daughter-in-law and son-in-law, Andy and Marcia Smith; three brothers, Frank Kreider, John Kreider and Clyde Kreider; nine grandchildren, Joshua Gelser and wife, Laura, Matthew Gelser, Jessica Gelser, Laura Hershey, Rachel Hershey, Dorothy Hershey, Lanae Kreider Mehegan and husband, David, Gabriel Kreider and wife, Justice, and Kailyn Kreider; two great-grandchildren, Elise and Elliott Gelser; and a very special friend, Ada Zhang.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Kreider was preceded in death by a son, David Kreider, who passed away in 1999, and four brothers and three sisters.
Pastor Phil Kanagy will conduct a memorial service Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Weavers Mennonite Church.
At his request, the body was cremated.

Kropf, Judy Rose Baker
Judy Rose (Baker) Kropf, daughter of Harley and Esther Baker, was born on February 27, 1940 at Eugene, Oregon.
She peacefully passed away on November 4th, 2018 at the age of 78 years, 8 months, and 8 days at her home after being bedfast for over 6 months. Grandma suffered from dementia the last several years of her life, during which she was lovingly cared for by her children. Her health slowly declined, and she suffered several mini strokes along with other complications.
She accepted Christ as her personal Savior in her youth and was baptized, being a faithful member of the Bethel AM Church until her death.
She was united in marriage on June 2, 1957 to Willis Kropf, son of Joe and Alice Kropf, sharing the joys and sorrows of married life for almost 54 years. This union was blessed with 8 children: Donna, and husband Richard Hostetler, Berryville, AR; Eileen, and husband Edwin Hostetler, Hotchkiss, CO; Gary, and wife Judith, Berryville, AR; Maxine, and husband Randy Headings, Tampico, IL; Delores, and husband Mark Ulrich, Gleason, WI; Galen, and wife Monica, Berryville, AR; Sherry, and husband Kenyon Hostetler, Tampico, IL; Jason, and wife Marlea, Berryville, AR.
She was preceded in death by her husband Willis; Sister Darlene; 5 grandchildren, Janel, Kevin, Kreg, Ron, and Shane; 7 great-grandchildren, Kensie, Kaleb, Tiffany, Kristi, Nevin, Makayla, and Malisa.
Grandma had a deep concern about the spiritual welfare of her family and church. She was concerned about drift in the church and had an appreciation for Biblical traditional values. She often showed her appreciation for the acts of kindness shown to her.
A special thanks to the grandchildren, their spouses, and others for all the hours they sacrificed, faithfully and lovingly caring for Grandma over the last several years. We also wish to express a heartfelt thank you to Hospice for their big part in helping us keep Grandma comfortable.
Kulp, Amos N., 80, of Narvon, died Sunday, November 18, 2018 at his home. His wife of 59 years, Miriam B. (Eberly) Kulp, survives.
Born in Caernarvon Twp., he was the son of the late Isaac B. and Martha (Newswanger) Kulp.
Amos was a truck driver for Charles M. Shirk for 52 years.
He was a member of Bowmansville Mennonite Church, the Morgantown Rod & Gun Club, the NRA and was an avid hunter. A highlight of his week was to have a meal with his sons and their wives. He loved and was loved dearly by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sons: Eugene married to Nanette Kulp, Bowmansville, Randall Kulp companion of Dawn Smith, Denver, Carl married to Cindy Kulp, Ephrata, Steve married to Nancy Kulp, Denver, Michael married to Cathy Kulp, Bowmansville, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and six siblings: Samuel N. married to Joyce Kulp, East Earl, Anna Kilmer, Casey Co., KY, David N. Married to Alice Kulp, Narvon, Mary N. Kulp, Casey Co., KY, Isaac married to Luella Kulp, Maine, Titus married to Esther Kulp, New Holland.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Bowmansville Mennonite Church, 129 Pleasant Valley Rd., East Earl with Pastor Larry Weber officiating. Kulp, Joseph O., 95, of Plumsteadville, PA died July 18, 2018 at Souderton Mennonite Home, Souderton, Montgomery Co., PA. He was born November 13, 1922 at Warrington, Bucks Co., PA to Hiram R. and Esther Ellen (Overholt) Kulp. He was married to Alverda Overholt, who is deceased.
Surviving are children, Joseph Dalton & wife Mae, Ottsville, Pa; Karen Clemmer & husband Vernon, Perkasie, a.; Lois Rice & husband, Laverne, Ottsville, Pa.; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Abram Kulp.
Two brothers, Winfred & Paul Kulp; and three sister-in-law, Margaret, Marie & Lenore Kulp preceded him in death.

Joseph "Joe" O. Kulp

Joseph O. Kulp, 95, of Souderton, Pennsylvania; formerly of Bedminster Twp., PA went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Souderton Mennonite Homes.
He was the loving husband of the late Alverda (Overholt) Kulp for 41 years. Joseph was born in Warrington, Pennsylvania to the late Hiram R. Kulp and the late Esther Ellen (Overholt) Kulp.
He worked as a farmer on the family farm "Overbrook Farm" in Bedminster Twp., as a carpenter for the former Harry Alvin in Bedminster Twp, as an equipment operator for the former Calabretti in Quakertown, PA, as a plumber for the former Frank Meyers in Quakertown, PA, and as a farmer for Morgan Cowperthwaite's farm "Indian Brook Farm" in Bedminster Twp. Joseph worked as an longtime employee and also served as a supervisor for Bedminster Township.
He was a life member of Deep Run Mennonite Church East where he served as a former Sunday School Teacher, a former member of the cemetery committee and a former trustee.
Joseph served as a former Republican Committee Man. He was a member of the Grundsow Lodge "Nummer Neine On Da Deef Runn" in Dublin. Joseph was a life member of Plumsteadville Fire Company where he served as an engineer and was part of their various committees.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing the guitar and banjo, listening to Southern Gospel music, and speaking Pennsylvania Dutch. Joseph loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and often took them for rides in the golf cart on the family farm. He was very proud of the seven generations of Kulp's who have lived on the family farm in Bedminster.
Joseph was a kind-hearted, content man who had a great sense of humor and was a good storyteller. He was very curious about History and was a good conversationalist.
Joseph is survived by his son, Joseph Dalton Kulp & wife, Mae of Ottsville, PA; his two daughters, Karen K. Clemmer & husband, Vernon of Perkasie, PA, Lois A. Rice & husband, Laverne of Ottsville, PA; his three grandsons, Jay Kulp & wife, Janelle of Bedminster Twp., PA, Jared Kulp & wife, Kate of Bedminster Twp., PA, Seth Rice & wife, Jenny of McMinnville, OR; his two granddaughters, Jennifer Barnes & husband, Brian of Mechanicsburg, PA, Leah Ludwig & husband, Richard of Perkasie, PA; twelve great-grandchildren – Darren, Dylan, Shannon, Maura, Gavin, Connor, Emily, Josiah, Ellison, Noah, Samson, & Zeke; and his brother, Abram Kulp of Perkasie, PA.

Kulp, Reuben Eby was born on June 13, 1943 in New Paris, Indiana and died at Marshfield Medical Center Marshfield, Wisconsin at 2:16 p.m. on July 20, 2018. He was the son of Amanda Brubacher Eby and Manasseh Brubacher Kulp.
He grew up on a farm in New Paris, Indiana and he married the love of his life, Oleta Pauline Miller on January 5, 1964 in the farmhouse across the road from his family’s farm where all five of us have our earliest memories.
Dad had various jobs in addition to cash crop farming, including driving truck and excavating. In January 1979, he felt an irresistible urge to own a dairy farm in Wisconsin, and he purchased one 2.5 miles east of Stratford, Wisconsin. Dad even named a road on that farm Pauline Lane, where his loving wife, our Mom, still lives.
Dad was a hard worker all his life, right up to the very end, driven by a desire to provide for his family. He was a creative, innovative problem solver, and often was the first to embrace new technology and ways of making his life and the lives of those around him more enjoyable.
There are a lot of things that could be said in this tribute about places Dad worked and things that he did, the people he helped and inspired, but we know that he would want us to share his true source of joy. He had a desire that others come to trust God and put their faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
His great legacy and the grandest work of his life is the investment into his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Because of that, we are listing his 5 children, 28 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Paul (Hannah Rhodes) Kulp of Mt Hermon, KY, Isaac (Florence Horst) Kulp of Elkhart, IN, Lena (William) Kilmer of Russellville, MO, Titus Kulp (stillborn), and Cyrus (Edna High) Kulp of Penn Yan, NY, as well as a great-grandson, Sojourner Bavido.

Kurtz, Ellen Diane, age 30 of Leola, PA, died at 8:30 pm, Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Elkhart General Hospital, where she had been a patient for 7 days after becoming ill while visiting family. She had been in ill health for 6 1/2 years. Ellen was born October 13, 1987 in Mt. Vernon, IL to Vernon L. and Inez (Martin) Kurtz.
Ellen had lived in Leola for 3 ½ years. She had taught at a Christian School and was a bookkeeper for Gehman Accounting, New Holland, PA.
Surviving are her parents, Vernon and Inez Kurtz, Mt. Vernon, IL; sisters, Sara (Mark) Sensenig, Johnsonville, IL, Elizabeth (Andrew) VanPelt, Leetonia, OH; brothers, Neil (Rosemary) Kurtz, Opdyke, IL, Eric (Sharon) Kurtz, Columbiana, OH, Kevin Kurtz, Bethel, PA; 13 nieces; 11 nephews; and her paternal grandmother, Lydia Kurtz, Ephrata, PA. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather; maternal grandparents; and one niece.

She will then be transferred to Stevens, PA, where there will be a visitation Thursday, August 23rd from 2-4 and 6-8 at Valley View Mennonite Church (194 Gockley Rd.) Funeral Services will be Friday, Aug. 24th at 10:00 am at the Church. Officiating Ministers will be Harold Good, James Sensenig, Wilmer Weaver, Stephen Ebersole, and Lamar Garman.
